In my 8/26/16 post, “And Obama Lies Too,” I accused Obama of lying. I based my accusation on the AP report “2 days after cash delivery, US paid $1.3 billion to Iran” that was widely reported in the media and clearly indicates that the $1.3 billion payment was made using banking channels. The reference to 13 payments plus the mention of a foreign central bank left the impression that the banking system must have been used which, Obama said, the US could not use due to sanctions.

Administration officials now report that this payment was made in cash too.

Thus, technically, Obama did not lie and I need to correct my previous post on that matter.

There are still many weird facts surrounding this whole transfer, including the need to use 13 payments of $99,999,999.99 to make one or two plane-loads of cash; not to mention why in the world you would use cash if you are using a foreign central bank anyway?

The main issue in that post remains unanswered, and that is: why make the payment at all?

The whole episode is bizarre and clearly a lot of effort was made to hide some strange behavior but it seems that, at least technically, the President did not lie and I regret saying that he did.
